Donald Swann wrote primarily for voice and piano, but occasionally he was persuaded to venture into orchestral territory. As always his pieces are wonderfuly lyrical.

Haydn's Suprise Symphony with additional surprises,
was conceived for the Hoffnung Musical Festival and is the only fully
orchestrated work Donald Swann has ever written. Performances have been
exclusively assigned to the Hoffnung Estate. |

'Rhapsody from Within' for treble recorder or
flute and piano. Commissioned by Carl Dolmetsch and premiered at the Wigmore
Hall in 1982.
